Common Medical Concerns

Fosters might notice symptoms like diarrhea, vomiting, sneezing, coughing, eye or nasal discharge, loss of appetite, or lethargy. These could be signs of stress, illness, or underlying medical conditions and should be reported to the rescue or shelter promptly.

What to Watch For:

  • Diarrhea: Track the frequency and consistency. Note any changes in diet, new medications, water intake, or lethargy that might be contributing.

  • Loss of Appetite or Lethargy: These can be early signs of illness. Keep a daily log of food and water intake and any changes in behavior or energy levels.

  • Pregnant Animals: If you are fostering a pregnant pet, set up a quiet, comfortable whelping or nesting area. Watch for signs of labor, such as restlessness, nesting behavior, or contractions. Contact the rescue if you notice any signs of distress or complications.
